Interpreting your genetic SNPs
Many people are hearing words like nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics, MTHFR, COMT, ancestry DNA, genetic SNP testing, and more and wondering how it relates to them. They might wonder, "what is the best genetic testing?" or what in the heck is an "MTHFR mutation test?!" Or even "What is a SNP and why should I care?"
Others have done genetic testing and are wondering, "is DNA raw data really relevant or helpful?" "how can I get a 23 and Me review?" "now that I have my raw data, what do I do with it?" and questions like this.
Genetic Consults are 90 minutes and fees range from $165-200 per session for interpreting genetic results. I work over the phone, Skype, Facetime, OR in person. Contact me to see if a consultation would be right for you.
For practical purposes I need to divide everyone wondering about DNA testing into two groups: those that have done genetic testing and those that haven't.
For those that have already done genetic testing
Ultimately I have two reports that I recommend for most people.
1. If you are looking for the whole shebang and want data on over 120 SNPs ranging from methylation, detoxification, and neurotransmitters, to fitness and predisposition for celiac or vitamin D & A processing, I strongly suggest the Methylgenetic Nutrition Analysis report. The cost for that report is $100. You can request that by contacting me directly.
2. If you are looking for a more basic test that still has a solid amount of information then I recommend Strategene by Seeking Health. The cost for that report is $45. You can run the report with them directly.
For those that have not done any SNP testing
Or have been tested for MTHFR SNPs by a doctor but have no idea what the next step is......
